LÍLLÉbaby Carrier: A Travel Mom's best friend

When you become a mom, you will purchase anything that eases your already exhausted day. That could be Snoo's smart bassinet, baby Merlin's swaddle, Doctor Brown's steam sterilizer, or a LÍLLÉbaby carrier!

If you ask them what their most prized possession has been post-kids, I can guarantee baby carriers will make it to the top 3. It's something we moms swear by to strive through the rough days and the regular ones, especially during those precious 0-12 months when all our little one wants is to be cuddled in our warmth. There’s something magical about carrying them close, feeling their little heartbeats sync with yours as you move through your day, walking, eating, cooking, traveling, pooping (If you aren’t a mom, you will be surprised). Oh, how I miss those days!

The travel bug bit me hard during my firstborn's first trip to New York when she was barely 3 months old. I wouldn’t have survived that trip without my LilleBaby carrier! While I was already juggling with my recovery and understanding my role as a mother, I have to thank my LÍLLÉbaby carrier for letting me enjoy New York while also enjoying rocking her to sleep in the middle of Times Square.

Before my firstborn, I did lot of online research to purchase the best carrier. Even though there were a few options that came up for the likes of Infantino 4-in-1, and Ergobaby 360 that have been highly recommended,  I wanted something that could grow with my baby, from those early infant months until through toddlerhood and preschool. That’s when a fellow parent recommended the LILLEbaby Carrier. Little did I know that this recommendation would turn me into its biggest cheerleader.

Whether it was getting through a grocery store, running errands, or going on big travel adventures, having my daughter strapped to me made everything easier.

6 years and 2 kids later, Lillebaby is still my favorite purchase!

What Makes a Great Travel Baby Carrier

When it comes to choosing any gear for the kids there are a few non-negotiable traits to look for The LILLEbaby ticks all the boxes.

  1. Comfort and Ease of Use

    1. The last thing you want is an aching back after a long day of exploring or a carrier that requires a degree in engineering to figure out the right positions. We’ve all been there!

  2. Avoid any Metals

    1. You want to avoid purchasing any carrier with metal parts that may hurt the baby unknowingly or slow you down at airport security. No one wants to wake a sleeping baby for that!

What I love about the carrier

I love many things about the LÍLLÉbaby carrier, but I'll mention the ones that have helped me the most during our travel days with the kids.

  1. Versatility
    1. The carrier offers multiple carrying positions—Front Fetal, Infant Narrow Seat for 0-6 months baby), Toddler Wide Seat (6 months and above), Outward, Hip Carry, and Back Carry.

    2. The shoulder strap position can be worn both straight or crossed to support the shoulders and neck.

    3. The fact that I could switch it up depending on the situation (and their moods) is a huge bonus.

  2. Lumbar support
    1. It has this amazing lumbar support pad on the waistband, which was a lifesaver during longer walks or hikes.

  3. Breathable Material
    1. The material itself is soft and breathable with mesh lining, leading to better airflow so no sweaty baby in hot weather. That stickiness can surely cause some discomfort.

    2. I live in Texas, so the weather can be brutally hot even then my babies have stayed cool and comfortable in it.

  4. Convenience aka Handy pockets
    1. There are zippered front panels that I use to stash my phone, a pacifier, or even a small toy. Talk about convenience!

    2. As women, we crave pockets in our outfits, in our bags, and everywhere! And so I adore the fact it comes with a pocket and my hands are free to either hold my older daughter, or lug our handbags, or take photos.

  5. Sun hood and neck support
    1. The carrier comes with a head and neck support to help with babies bobblehead.

    2. The sunhood has given me respite so many times when we are out traveling. There have been so many sunny days, and the cover-up just gives them the much-needed shade. It was even helpful during a big storm we faced in Colombia and Japan.

  6. Grows with your child
    1. I have carried my kids from the time they were born till 6 years old!! no kidding.

    2. Hands down the best feature! If you travel a lot, there are chances you will be walking a lot and so will your child. we could take rests and pitstops to recover, but our kids need to be carried or held to recover. There are only few places you will end up using your stroller.

My Travel Journeys with the best- LilleBaby baby carrier

I have traveled to different cities, countries, and terrains with both my kids and have used this carrier extensively everywhere!

  1. Rough terrains
    1. I have hiked the famous Cocora Valley with my 2-year-old on my back for 3 hrs uphill and downhill, sometimes walking on a straight path and sometimes crawling the muddy hills. Read my guide to hiking the valley with kids

  2. Hiking
    1. I have hiked the steep mountains of Doi Suthep in Thailand for 2 long hours with my 18-month-old strapped on me and taking naps under the shady trees.

  3. Comfort rides
    1. I have ridden a cable car in Colombia as my 2 year old toddler gazed at the sweeping views of Andes Mountain through the windows

  4. Curse of Stairs
    1. I have climbed endless stairs visiting Japan. About 12000 of them towards Kyotos Fushimi Inari, and about 300 to reach Chureita Pagoda with both my 2 years and 5 year old (alternately of course)

  5. Altitude
    1. I have climbed a volcano at an elevation of 4,698 meters above sea level in Ecuador carrying my 2-year-old on my back, feeling like a supermom. Though the altitude elevation took a turn on me, the carrier didn’t :)

No other carrier could have managed the uneven terrains of Colombia or Japan's endless stairs, but with the LILLEbaby, I didn’t have to worry. It gave me the freedom to explore with my girls, knowing they were safe and comfortable. Hands down, the best baby carrier for travel days.

What I DON'T Love about the LILLEbaby

Since no product is ever perfect, there is just one thing I wish were improved- the width of lumbar support.

While the carrier does come with a lumbar pad, I found that as my kids grew and if I was carrying them for longer stretches, my lower back would start to feel the strain. I think if the support band was wider or extended further across the lower back, it would have made a big difference. I’ve learned to give my back a break when needed!

LILLEbaby is Still My Favorite Travel Gear

If you’re a mom who loves to travel, I can’t recommend the LILLEbaby enough. It’s the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and practicality. Yes, there are fancier carriers out there, but in my experience, this one ticks all the boxes for both everyday use and big adventures.

It’s one of those items I gift to my mom to-be friends and rave about it at parties.

I have made countless memories with my girls with the LILLEbaby, and I’m sure you will too!

If you’re on the fence about getting one, take it from me—it’s one of the best investments you’ll make as a parent especially if you love traveling!

Tell me in commemts your favorite carrier that made your travels easier with kids.
